a couple questions about the rev c validation page

having never walked through the actual validation page, i figured
i'd give it a quick look, and i have a couple questions about
http://code.google.com/p/beagleboard/wiki/BeagleboardRevCValidation.

1) while the page is allegedly for rev C boards, the title also
includes a reference to rev B. does the page still cover rev B
properly?

2) with respect to preparing the MMC/SD card, i think it's worth
adding the alternative of formatting it from linux as well, with
"mkdosfs".

3) the early file list gives an option to flash the "bootloader" or
not, but it's not made clear *which* bootloader -- x-loader or u-boot.
this should be clarified. and based on what the user wants to do,
how might the list of files change? can some then be omitted? it
might be worth pointing that out.

p.s. further down the page, you read:

"If x-load.bin.ift was on MMC, NAND will be flashed ..."

again, i think the options for creating that MMC/SD card and what will
happen when you boot from it need to be more carefully explained. if
you have that file, but *didn't* copy the reset.scr file as boot.scr,
what happens? as always, just being pedantic.

4) under "Board Setup" for validating, lots of instructions on
connecting LCD monitor and audio and TV. and while i'm sure most
readers will understand, obviously some of those hookups are optional
since some folks won't have those peripherals. the way it's worded
makes it sound like you *must* hook them up.

anyway, i'm about to run thru it myself. later.

I am extremely sorry that I am not maintaining this page, I thought
there were more better sites now that give info when compared to what
I have populated here.

I have already promised to correct this many times but failed due to
other priorities, I am getting back to beagle work - u-boot changes
and Kernel migration to support 720Mhz, etc.

I will take up cleaning up this work along with the other coding tasks.

Thanks for the review and feedback.

Khasim

this appears to be the canonical page that people get pointed at
when first setting up their BB.

i'd be happy to help -- technical writing is a lot of what i do.
