add extra storage from sd card wheezy 7.2 debian

I want to use a blank sd card for extra rotfs storage (if possible) on the BBB. I see a lot of instructions for how to do this when you boot from the sd card but not just using a blank card and booting off the BBB.

Debian Wheezy 7.2 OS

I have a card formatted and partitioned but it seems that the BBB wants to boot form that card. Because when Installed and then I reboot I can’t get a ssh prompt.

thanks

You need to have a uEnv.txt file on the sdcard with somethign like this in it

mmcdev=1
bootpart=1:2
mmcroot=/dev/mmcblk1p2 ro

This is, if you’re booting off the eMMC. However, if I recall correctly you are, or were wanting to boot from an external USB hdd. So this uEnv.txt file on the sdcard would have to have that information in it.
