am i having errata #8 issue ?

Hi
i got my beagle 2 days back, Every thing except the serial works
fine .... getting a beep from audio port, checked svideo also , yet to
check hdmi output
I have a IDC10 to DB9M cable which are connected in the following way
1->1
2->2
3->3
etc....
now i connected the db9 from beagle to pc rs232 in the following
manner
2->3
3->2
5->5
I get the boot messages but unable to type any in the uboot prompt. I
checked the (Serial connection #4 http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardFAQ#Serial_connection_.231
) also and im able to see keystrokes by connecting a jumper between TX
and RX.

Make sure you refer to the Troubleshooting section of the B5 Reference Manual. Follow the steps there. We have “repaired” several boards under RMA that were found to be fine. The issues turned out to be wrong or bad cables.

You MUST use the IDC cable that is 1-1, 2-2, etc. The other one will not work. Make sure the red stripe is is away form the DC connector.

Hi Gerald
I have checked all the connections as mentioned in B5 reference manual
and they a fine. My id10 to db9 cable is (1-1 2-2 3-3 etc.....) only.
I also made sure that 5 pin is grounded (with a ohmmeter , 5pin of the
DB9 and 27 and 28 th pin in expansion which are ground according to
manual). Mine in B4 version
Here is the output from serial

I suggest you request an RMA and send it in for repair.
