Angstrom Ethernet Problems

Hi,

I’m currently running a BB with Angstrom 2009.X-test-20090508. Just
wondering if anyone can give me a hand getting Ethernet up and going –
I checked the angstrom tutorial and the commands ifdown and ifup were
used – however, I’m getting a ‘command not found’ error like:

root@beagleboard:/home/cusick# ifup
sh: ifup: not found

Also, I tried pinging:

root@beagleboard:/home/cusick# ping google.com
PING google.com (66.102.11.104): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto: Network is unreachable

Any tips on how can I go about getting Ethernet to work? Thanks!

Hi Carolyn, can you tell us a bit more about your hardware setup? Which Beagle are you using (rev C, rev xM), and if rev C, which USB dongle are you using?

You might start with a more modern build. Visit http://code.google.com/p/beagleboard/wiki/BeagleBoardDiagnosticsNext for links to current Angstrom builds.

hope this helps!

Hello

can you try:

$/etc/init.d/networking restart

Use “ifconfig interfaceN up” (where interfaceN is your ethernet device, use ifconfig -a to see all of them)
