Angstrom Linux: Opencv and Python

Hi Men,

I’m using Beaglebone Black with latest Angstrom Linux image from here: Latest Software Images - BeagleBoard.

I see Python 2.7 and Opencv 2.4.2 already installed.

My problem is: when I start python and type "import cv" I get error: “ImportError: No module named cv

`

sh-4.2# python
Python 2.7.3 (default, May 29 2013, 21:25:00)
[GCC 4.7.3 20130205 (prerelease)] on linux2
Type “help”, “copyright”, “credits” or “license” for more information.

import cv
Traceback (most recent call last):
File “”, line 1, in
ImportError: No module named cv

`

Please help me!

Hmm…

It seems that experts don’t want to help beginners. :frowning:

Finally I found myself how to solve this problem by enter the following commands step by step by Terminal:

Could you assist a beginner. I tried to run these on my BBB but I get the following error below. I have the latest Angstrom installed and updated. Please help!

Downloading http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/feeds/v2012.05/ipk/eglibc/armv7a/python/libopencv-core2.3_2.3.1-r3_armv7a.ipk.

wget: server returned error: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

I am also a begginer (just a single week using BBB) and I also got this error, fortunately I found on http://www.uncannyvision.com/blog/setting-up-opencv2-4-2/ (look at the end of the page) the requiered commands for these packages. By the way, if you plan to use opencv with python then also install via opkg the python-opencv package.

Hi all… I do agree people are so selfish here… I googled a lot regarding this stuff… i couldnt come up with a nutshell solution…I want to perform Image processing tasks in BBB which runs Debian Linux… so I need to install OpenCV on BBB… It seems i should install cmake in prior… I dont have direct internet connection to my BBB… I tried to download OpenCV from github.com as a ZIP file and i copied it to BBB using pendrive…Can anyone please guide me how to install cmake on BBB?? i tried to download cmake and ended up in incomplete build… please help me … your ideas will be really appreciated

Thanks in advance
