Anyone using the 3-port GWC USB Hub with working ethernet connection?

I'm running the Angstrom demo, but there are no signs of life from
eth0.
There is no blinking on the ethernet port when cable plugged in (cable
and connection is know to be good).

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

Btw, here is the URL from the Beagle 'shopping list':

From the picture it looks like it has a powered input. Are you powering it?
My USB-Ethernet dongle did not work until I split the USB cable and provided
power. I don't have this exact same HUB so I'm not sure.

Yes. It has power going to it. Might just be defective.

I'm using that hub / adapter and it works fine for me. I run it hub-
powered -- not bus powered. Other than that, I just plug it in and it
works.

Sorry.

What kernel/rootfs are you using?

I have the external hub power plugged in. I am also am using external
power for the Beagle.

Geof - Did you get flashing 'network traffic' leds on the ethernet
port when you first plugged in? I get none.

using Linux kernel version 2.6.26-omap1

Thank you,
Bill

Yes. I'm running Angstrom (2.6.26 or 2.6.27). So perhaps there's a
driver in there that is required. It's the same ASIX ethernet chip
that is in all of the various USB->Ethernet 10/100 adapters that I've
tried. So if you have another USB-Ethernet that works, it likely is
just that your GWC is broken.

Datapoint: both my asix based ethernet adaptors work with 2.6.26, 2.6.27 and 2.6.28.

Here's another datapoint: I was able to get the GWC working with
uImage-2.6.27+2.6.28-rc8+r0 from http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/autobuild/beagleboard/
but X11 segfaulted so that wasn't a solution for me. I don't know if
this is related to the segfault, but I am using the DLP Pico Projector
using the bootargs you posted at http://dominion.thruhere.net/koen/cms/pico-dlp-arrived
(thanks for that; it was most helpful!)

In the end, I just used my USB EV-DO card to get online because that
worked great.

I was going to try to build the most recent 2.6.28 from OpenEmbedded,
but while I was trying to figure out how to override the default
kernel used for x11-image, the VMware Fusion virtual machine I had
been using for OpenEmbedded had a catastrophic problem and couldn't
fsck its way out of it. So I may give this a try again, but if a newer
build of 2.6.28 appears online, I'll give that a try.

Thank you very much for the info. I am suspecting that the hardware is
faulty, I will try another hub + adaptor.
