BB Xm And DC Motor

Hi ,
I am new to Beagleboard-XM Rev C .Can someone help me to find a
solution for driving dc motor with BB-xM ?? Is it possible to use
L293d ??
Thanks for your help in advance.

The short answer is - using speed controller and hardware PWM
generator available on BB. It would probably be also the simplest way.
However, the actual way highly depends on which motor you are going to
drive (power consumption) and other relevant requirements. But you did
not provide such information. In addition, there are tons of
information about it in the internet. Have you tried to google for it?
That is why, as a first reading I would recommend this:

As one possible example on how to drive dc motor, you can take a look
at how we did it in our hobby project:

Corresponding source code could be found here:

Thank you, From what I understand, I can not relate directly to the dc
motor has the BB-XM card must pass first through a power circuit and
manage speed by PWM (Table 22 page 108 datasheet BB-XM). Just another
question to program the card is there a dedicated IDE for this card.
Well thank you and good day

Right.

must pass first through a power circuit and

PWM is probably the simplest way since there are many standard speed
controllers from RC toys domain. However, there are other options also
available. Here is for example Atmel micro-controller based controller
for brush-less motors which uses I2C interface (instead of PWM).

Should be also very easy to connect to BB.

I assume with "card" you mean BeagleBoard here. There were some
mention of Eclipse in this mail list. If you search the mail archive
for "eclipse gcc crosscompile" you will definitely find it.

Thank you very much
