[BBB] "Cannot make/remove an entry for the specified session"

I started playing with the BeagleBone Black, with the 2012.12 image that shipped with it. It booted OK a few times, then gave me this error when I tried to login at the serial console:
“Cannot make/remove an entry for the specified session”

Then I upgraded to 2013.06.20. It booted OK a few times, then I got the same error:
“Cannot make/remove an entry for the specified session”

And networking stopped working so I can’t SSH in to fix it.
So I made a bootable SD card and booted off it so I could fix the eMMC linux partition according to the suggestions I’ve seen in other threads on this forum. But none of the things mentioned exist in my system. Not SQL, not alsa.

I still have no idea how to fix this.

Thanks,
Jim

I know you’ve all been waiting with bated breath for me to solve this, and I have!
My fix for nfs mount (that I found in this forum) broke it.
I changed the /bin/mount link

That fixed nfs mount but prevented me from ever logging in again.
So whatever the heck mount.util-linux is, it is needed to login.
Use ‘busybox mount’ for nfs mounting.

Thanks,
Jim
