BBB Debian Adafruit WebIDE

Hi all,

I wrestled a bit last night and today with trying to get Adafruit’s WebIDE working on my BBB with Debian. Two of the dependencies aren’t included in the mainline repo (nodejs and nodejs-legacy). I won’t bore anyone with details on the static compile (it does work) but I found a much easier way so I thought I’d share.

Some details:

I’m running the latest and greatest from Robert Nelson (6-14 kernel) a la http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardDebian#Debian_7.0.0_.28wheezy.29

Details on the WebIDE can be found at the github repo (https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-WebIDE)

Pretty simple after that and I can’t believe that it didn’t occur to me last night.

#add the experimental repo (those packages are in there)

echo “deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian experimental main” >> /etc/apt/sources.list
apt-get update
wget http://adafruit-download.s3.amazonaws.com/adafruitwebide-0.3.8-Linux.deb
dpkg -i adafruitwebide-0.3.8-Linux.deb
apt-get -f install

After that hit the IP of your BBB on port 8080 and you’re off to the races.

Hope this helps someone out!

Thanks for the tip!

I just added “deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian experimental main” to the source list.

echo “deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian experimental main” >> /etc/apt/sources.list
apt-get update
sudo curl https://raw.github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-WebIDE/alpha/scripts/install.sh | sudo sh

I had to reboot before I can access the WebIDE.
