BBB is loaded with XAM3359AZCZ100. can we do a drop in replacement with AM3359ZCZD72?

the latter is available for public from TI. I hope no configuration changes needed for angstrom/ubuntu distributions.

you can replace it. No software changes are needed

That device has a maximum frequency of 720MHZ. The one on the BBB runs at 1GHZ. I suspect this 720 device will run but may bot run n all devcies as it was tested to show that it can’t run in all cases at 1GHZ.

Thanks for the reply.
According to the description in its website, Beaglebone Black supports AM335x ARM Cortex-A8. Does that mean all AM3352/3354/3356/3358/3359 with the same packages will run on this platform?

Processor: AM335x 1GHz ARM® Cortex-A8

As long as you make sure the SW runs as it relates to speed. Not lal processors rated at 720MHz will run at 1GHz under all operating conditions. . As to the HW, all parts are the same footprint and they can be therefore mounted onto the same PCB.

Thanks, Gerald. Really appreciate your prompt reply!!!
