BBB is Refusing Connections

Greetings All!

In trying to set up to use Xwindows (Cygwin/X thru Putty), I believe I have crashed my ssh service on my BBB. Based on some posts, I tried adding “ForwardX11Trusted yes” to /etc/ssh/sshd_config. Since then I have not been able to login using ssh or telnet. I get a “connection refused” error. Connections are refused for ssh, telnet, and ftp.

Based on further research, turns out the mod to /etc/ssh/sshd_config. The obvious solution would be to re-edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config to remove “ForwardX11Trusted yes” but I can’t get logged in using anything I can think of. I did try to ftp in (FileZilla) but that failed with a refused connection error too. For what it is worth, I can still access the BBB using the web service. But that does not appear to provide any access to files. Multiple re-boots have been unsuccessul in resolving the issue.

Am I facing reflashing the OS? Or is there a slick way of getting in to the board?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Don

Surely you can connect a screen and keyboard directly to the BBB since
it still appears to be running, all you have done is to prevent remote
connections to it somehow.

Just connect a screen to the HDMI port and a keyboard and mouse to the
USB and away you go.

Chris,

You are 100% correct! And I should have thought of that on my own! A little too much task fixation trying to connect using a network connection and forgetting the basic features of the board.

I have appropriately administered to myself one Gibb’s slap on the back of my head!

Thanks!
