[BBB] What is xuser password?

I just started playing with the BeagleBone Black. I’m using the factory-installed 2012.12 image on the eMMC. I got console login working via the serial port, ssh working, nfs working, then I did something I thought was harmless and I can’t login anymore. I edited /etc/profile and added this line to shorten the long console prompt:
PS1='bbb> ’
Now when I try to login as root I get:
Cannot make/remove an entry for the specified session

I found in this forum that this may be sql or alsa related, but I can’t ssh in anymore to fix it. It’s like networking is broken too.
I noticed there is an xuser account, but I don’t know the password.
What is the xuser password?

There shouldn’t be a password. You should just be able to press enter to log in.

I would also suggest you update the image. There are a lot of things that have changed since the 2012.12 image that will probably make your life easier. http://circuitco.com/support/index.php?title=Updating_The_Software
