Beagle backplane - does one exist? Can one exist?

Hi, all,

I’m interested in either locating or designing a test system architecture using inexpensive and physically robust modules. My requirements:

  • Modular architecture in which test interface boards can be plugged into a backplane or similar hardware structure.

  • Up to 10 boards per backplane

  • Physically robust

  • Inexpensive

  • Reasonably high data rates along the backplane (high resolution digital video)

  • Interface boards need to be designed to support:

  • Ethernet at up to about 100 MBPS rates

  • USB to video rates

  • RS485 with arbitrary data link layer protocols

VXI will support all these requirements except the “inexpensive.”

I’m not new to SW or HW architecture, but I am new to Beagle and Raspberry Pi.

Has anyone commercialized something like this, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks,

  • NF.

Not as far as I know.

When I built my first 6 node super cluster I used a 9 port 10/100 switch.

And built my own power distribution setup.

Hmmmm… I see card edge fingers. Is there any standard bus?

Several seem to use so-dimm
