You sure do find these things fast.

Well this is a nice birthday gift

Very cool to see ubuntu run on top of the beagle board. However i do
have a couple of questions regarding your rig.

1) Where is the system booting from? In other words can what are the
boot media options. can it boot from USB?
2) Can you run regular OpenGL games?
3) Are the demos OGLES2.x or 1.x (well since you mention pixel shaders
it must be 2.x).
4) Does the "Note: Revision C is expected earliest at November 2008. "
date still hold, or will we get a rev. C board sooner ?

This is all very exciting, very nice job guys, keep it up and
hopefully we will start seeing some commercial devices come out of the
beagleboard community.

All the best,
-Dan

Yes, the board can boot from USB. There has been discussion on the mailing list on a tool to support the USB loading, but no complete solution. There are closed source tools that can be used for USB boot. The board also supports NAND, MMC/SD, and serial boot modes.

In this case, I was booting u-boot from NAND flash then loading the kernel from a FAT partition on the SD cards and then mounting the root file system from a second (ext2) partition on the SD cards.

2) Can you run regular OpenGL games?

I haven't tried to run any OpenGL games. You'd need to use an OpenGL to OpenGLES translation layer, but I understand those are in reasonably good shape. That sounds like an excellent project, but I must apologize up-front that the drivers won't be public for still some time.

3) Are the demos OGLES2.x or 1.x (well since you mention pixel shaders

I believe the first one is 1.1. I'm confident the second one is 2.0 and includes pixel shading.

4) Does the "Note: Revision C is expected earliest at November 2008. "

It is likely to hold. We have several Rev. B boards in production and the demo were shown on a Rev B board.

This is all very exciting, very nice job guys, keep it up and

I hope so!
