Beagle Board

Dear Sir/madam,

My name is Mohammed Samiullah, i had a Demo in ESC at Bangalore on Beagle Board.

The following queries on Beagle Board(BB) are:-

  1. Can i able to use Code Composer studio (Windows) on this BB?
  2. Can i able to use matlab/simulink code, convert the code to OMAP3530 on DSP -C64x?
  3. Can i able to modify the Linux kernal, then re build the kernel and uImage/uboot?
  4. If i purchase, can i able to get the schematic diagram, BOM, BSP and support?

Thanks & best Regards
Mohammed Samiullah

Dear Sir/madam,

The following queries on Beagle Board(BB) are:-
1. Can i able to use Code Composer studio (Windows) on this BB?

Yes. You need CCS v3.3 and then upgrade to the latest service
release. You'll also need a supported JTAG emulator pod that supports
1.8V I/O. There is limited information at BeagleBoardJTAG - eLinux.org
and more at http://www.ti.com/omap35x and Digital signal processors (DSPs) | TI.com.

2. Can i able to use matlab/simulink code, convert the code to OMAP3530 on DSP -C64x?

I'm not aware.

3. Can i able to modify the Linux kernal, then re build the kernel and uImage/uboot?

Yes.

4. If i purchase, can i able to get the schematic diagram, BOM, BSP and support?

You don't even need to purchase to get the design materials, but free
support is only by the community (this mailing list and the #beagle
IRC channel). See Designing the Internet of Things - BeagleBoard for the
design materials. If you need support, I recommend you make queries
to some of the developers on this list or someone listed on the TI
developer network (Digital signal processors (DSPs) | TI.com
dspplatformscontenttp.tsp?sectionId=2&familyId=1525&tabId=2224).

Thanks & best Regards
Mohammed Samiullah

You are welcome. I hope that others like you will choose to search
the mailing list for this same information.

3. Can i able to modify the Linux kernal, then re build the kernel and
uImage/uboot?

You can definitely do it - but there doesn't seem to be any link from
where you can just pull a kernel's source, compile it and have it
working ... I tried the git repositories mentioned in the wiki, but it
was too much of pain. Here is what I did - I got the OpenEmbedded build
working (first time I was doing stuff with OE - I had some
misconceptions - but the whole thing worked like charm - the guys who
are involved with OE/Angstrom are doing amazing work!) and then pulled
the kernel source out of the OE tree, made some tweaks, recompiled
it ... and it works well!

Pramode

Validation kernel (2.6.22.1) can be done as given in

All development work is preferred to be executed with GIT kernel and
OE provides you with additional patches to keep things intact and
always working.

For GIT based, refer to muru.com.

May I ask you how to download and patch the kernel source code using GIT?
