"Beagle Pups" - available hardware derived from the Beagle Board

The selection of purchasable hardware derived from the Beagle Board is
starting to grow nicely. I'd like for the Beagle Board community to
have a good understanding of what alternative hardware is out there,
so I've created a web page called http://beagleboard.org/pups.

I'm in the process of creating a comparison table and questionnaire.
Below is the working list of questions:

    * What design and layout source available?
    * What volume and lead times options exist?
    * What commercial support sources available?
    * What are the distribution options and localities?
    * What are the additional interfaces and expansion options?
    * What interfaces removed or changed?

Please edit the questions as appropriate or give me and/or this list
suggestions on changing those questions. Once we have a good list of
questions, I'll ask the vendors that I know about to provide answers,
then work towards formatting those answers in a similar fashion. I
think the differences in options are relatively significant, so it
should be easy to distinguish options based on what you are trying to
do.

This could ultimately be a failure and comments discouraging me from
even trying this are also welcome.

Because here are a lot of german speaking people. In german 'pups'
means 'fart'. Perhaps an other name would be more suitable?

How about the word 'breeds'?

As a native german speaker, I must say that I cannot imagine any
objection that would be more intriguing. Personally, I rather identify
'pups' with 'places where one can drink beer', and that is a nice
thought.

Anybody knowing a language which uses 'breeds' to describe, say, the
sound of a shoe squashing dog poo? I mean, not that we offend even
more people or so...

Regards

Sounds good.

Any comments on the *content* at [1], namely these questions:
    * What design and layout source available?
    * What volume and lead times options exist?
    * What commercial support sources available?
    * What are the distribution options and localities?
    * What are the additional interfaces and expansion options?
    * What interfaces removed or changed?

And what about the idea itself? Should we be talking about the other
boards here?

I think the idea itself is a good one. I suspect though that many such projects are still in their infancy with this, many waiting until Rev C is released with the LCD signals. Could also be that the package-on-package assembly slows things down as well for many.

So i guess i'm saying that i think it is a good idea for a page, and one we should hope to update in the future, however it may be some time before it gives fruit.

Have you gone to the current list of boards on the wiki pointed to at the link [1]? The latest one is based on the 0.65mm ball-pitch package and does not use package-on-package assembly.

Are these the questions we want answered by those other board makers?
