[beagleboard] 5V hardened pins?

Best would be to tell us what hardware you are using but the SRM of
that piece of hardware
is very clear on this topic.

You put anything over 3.3V on those pins, and you will blow the processors. All I/O pins are 3.3V except the ADC which are 1.8V. This is all covered in the System Reference Manual.
