[beagleboard] BBB turns off after plugging in ethernet cable

Are you powering off of the USB port? The current may be too much. A 5VDC power supply may be required.

Gerald

OK. So 5V at what current? 1A? 2A? 500ma?

Gerald

OK. The solution is to get a real power supply. At least 1A. The Ethernet takes a lot of current. If it is connected while booting, it can easily go over 500mA. That is why if you wait, it works better.

Gerald

Ah. Ok. I missed the bench supply reference in the earlier exchange. Sorry.

Make sure the bench supply negative terminal is grounded so as not to create a ground look when plugging in the Ethernet cable.

Gerald

I will add it to my long list. Most likely I can get to it in a couple of weeks.

Gerald

Can I assume the DVI adapter is not powered by the board?
