[beagleboard] Beagle Board Black does not boot when powered from 5V barrel ...

Sounds like you may have a bad power supply. You need to make sure that all the grounds for your system are tied together, like having all power cords connected to the same power strip.

Boot sequence is controlled by the boot button and has nothing to do with the power button. You may be confusing the two. http://circuitco.com/support/index.php?title=BeagleBoneBlack IF you are tlaking about the power button, then I would go back and read my first paragraph.

The boot button forces the boot sequence to select the uSD card first. Other than that the same sequence is used. Powering from USB or DC has nothing to do with the boot sequence.

Hello Gerald,

thank you for your really quick answer.

Concenring the power supplies I am using, I will try others.

However, I am really talking about the POWER button: no confusion there.
Does this help?

Cheers,

Nicolas.

Good, no confusion. I would check your power supply then.

Gerald

Looking at the part number you gave, that is the wrong connector. Connector size is 2.1mm not 2.5mm. That may be part of your issue, I am not sure. Either way, you have the wrong power supply…

Gerald

Thank you for the check Gerald.

I think the connector specified is the right one but I am not sure.
I cannot understand the datasheet which says: Output cable/connector DCcable with 2.5 mmx5.5mmbarrel plug, 2.1mmx5.5mm

I will try out other power supplies and let you know.

Cheers,

Nicolas.
