[beagleboard] How to configure networking?

I've just installed Ubuntu with --use-default-user option.
Can't figure out how to enable networking over Ethernet-USB adapter.

Which kernel? (uname -a) if it's mine, that one is enabled..

force networking with:

sudo ifconfig -a

eth0 should show up..

then

sudo dhclient eth0

PS.. Yuck... if this is put in the field, have a hot backup of a
different chipset... I've had 4 of these chipset's fail in the last
year (averaged 3-6 months)..
