[Beagleboard] Load DSP/CPU

Hi,

I am interested by the load of DSP and CPU when i launch a video with
the DSP. I note the following load for the following videos formats:

Movie 1 : H264 279 kbps 352*288
   DSP load : 17% CPU load : 5%

Movie 2 : H264 719 kbps 640*480
   DSP load : 45% CPU load : 18%

Movie 3 : H264 932 kbps 852*480
   DSP load : 70% CPU load : 60%

I don't understant why the CPU is works so much. Before the mesure i
thought that the CPU will work just a little (5 or 10% for all movies)
and the DSP will make the job... Because the DSP is here for that.
I note for my mesure that the load of the CPU is always constant.

So my question is why can we explain this?

Thanks

What SW do you use for the decoding?

I guess you do color conversion on the cpu, that would result in the high cpu load you are seeing. The dsp load numbers look reasonable though…

Thanks for your answer Vladimir,

What is SW ? And what is "color conversion on CPU" ?(sorry i am
beginner)

Thank you

SW is software. Color conversion means converting from YUV to e. g. RGB.

What video player are you using?

Oh ok, thanks. So i use gts-laucnh 0.10.

Thanks you.
