Slightly tangential to this…
I brought up Angstrom on my beagleboard using a creaky old power supply. The beagleboard would get as far as “reading uImage” and then reboot. The cycle would then repeat.
It turned out that the power supply could not supply the peak current required during the booting process. The voltage must have dropped to the point where the board reset itself.
Using a higher current supply fixed the problem.
