Beagleboard XM rev. B stuck in endless loop during installation Ubuntu 11.10

Dear all,

I am trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 on my Beagleboard XM Rev. B and
most things are okay, however when Ubuntu boots into the graphical
system configuration utility, it completes the system configuration
(at least I think it does) but it crashes at the end and restarts
Ubuntu, and I have to do the system configuration all over again.

Ubuntu seems to work, but I haven't been able to use it due to this
endless loop of the system configuration utilitty.

I've been looking on the net, but I haven't been able to find a
solution.

Does anyone recognize the problem and knows a solution, or at least a
way to make Ubuntu "think" it is finished with the system
configuration?

Kind regards,

Eelco

I recognize the issue, but next time it helps to mention the exact
image you downloaded and where you downloaded it from. .

Mount the sd card on your development pc and delete this file:
/var/lib/oem-config/run

Regards,

Thank you so much! It is the most recent version downloaded at Ubuntu
(downloaded 4th december 2012).

I am going to try it right now!

Kind regards,

Eelco Rouw

Hi,

Did you ever resolve this? I’m having exactly the same issue with Rev C beagleboard xm.

Thanks
Mike

It was a bug on one of ubuntu's omap images hosted on ubuntu.com...

Should now be fixed, unless your using the same exact image..
Otherwise, the actual name of the file and where you downloaded would
be very helpful for us to help you..

Regards,

Yep, the file was ubuntu-11.10-preinstalled-server-armel+omap.img.gz which I downloaded from the ubuntu site today.

Thanks
Mike

So did you, then:

Mount the sd card on your development pc and delete this file:
/var/lib/oem-config/run

although, the problem was with the development version, the released
version should be fine..
