BeagleBone 3D Video

Quick question Gerald,

With the DVI cape, can the BeagleBone output 3D video to DVI (or HDMI with a DVI to HDMI converter)?

If so this would be a pretty big advantage over other ARM-based SBCs, especially with the open GPU and DSPLINK capability.

Also, any idea what the status of DSPLINK is for Angstrom on the BeagleBone? From my research a few weeks ago it looks like DSPLINK is fully supported for the XM series but is not yet mainstream supported with the BeagleBone kernel?

  1. 3D is possible, but the targeted resolution is not as high as some other platforms. It can support either HDMI or DVI-D if you select the correct cape. I am not sure that the HDMI version is out yet, but one is in the works.
  2. DSPLINK has no value as the BeagleBone has no DSP to link to so if DSP is something you need, then the -xM would be a better choice.
  3. DSPLINK has no value as the BeagleBone has no DSP to link to.
