Beaglebone black came with broken microsd and no serial number

Hi,

I just opened up my BBB and before powering it up I noticed an issue with the uSD holder http://i.imgur.com/rFTnosj.jpg hopefully you can see what I mean.

Also there is nothing in the white s/n bit on my PCB although there is something resembling a serial number on the p8 header.

that is the serial number

Read the System Reference Manual on the last page. There is a picture of where the serial number is located.

What about the faulty uSD should I RMA it or class it as DOA with supplier?

Where did you buy it from?

Farnell uk

I would report it as DOA and get it replaced.

I have an unresponsive BBB as well, I submitted an RMA and am waiting for a response. But is there a way to recover the contents of the eMMC after the board goes dead?

You have a response form the RMA team.
