I get the following when booting the beagelbone wireless:

I’ve come across solutions online that says to execute the command “fsck /dev/mmcblk1p1” but doing so leads to the following:

(initramfs) fsck /dev/mmcblk1p1
fsck from util-linux 2.29.2

fsck: error 2 (No such file or directory) while executing fsck.ext2 for /dev/mmcblk1p1

Any idea on how to solve this?

That’s usually a sign that the media device is dieing…

In your case, i’d try two things:

Upgrade U-Boot

sudo apt update
sudo apt install bb-u-boot-am335x-evm
cd /opt/u-boot/bb-u-boot-am335x-evm/
sudo ./install.sh
sudo reboot

and update the kernel…

sudo /opt/scripts/tools/update_kernel.sh

Regards,

Thanks for the response.
I can’t actually run the commands that you suggested as the beagelbone fails to actually boot into the operating system. The output shown was the beagelbones debug serial port.

These are the commands I am given from the initramfs prompt:

BusyBox v1.22.1 (Debian 1:1.22.0-19+b3) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

(initramfs) help
Built-in commands:

exit export false fg getopts hash help history jobs kill let

trap true type ulimit umask unalias unset wait

(initramfs)

I am able to however abort the autoboot, in which case these commands are available:

On a side note, is there a way to prevent this error in the future?

Sorry, you can’t fix it in u-boot, just grab:

https://rcn-ee.net/rootfs/bb.org/testing/2021-04-05/buster-iot/bone-debian-10.9-iot-armhf-2021-04-05-4gb.img.xz

and install it a microSD, then run:

cd /opt/u-boot/bb-u-boot-am335x-evm/
sudo ./install.sh
sudo reboot

and try rebooting from the eMMC…

Regards,

Ah right.

I’ve installed the img file to a bootable micro sd card and then tried to flash the beagelbone but I’m getting the same error. It brings me back to the initramfs prompt.

It does seem like the beaglbones root filesystem is corrupt. Am I correct in assuming that even attempting to flash the beagelbone with a fresh image doesn’t actually restore the root filesystem?

error -110 is not a ‘corruption’ issue, it’s a hardware communication failure.

From your log:

U-Boot SPL 2018.09-00002-g0b54a51eee (Sep 10 2018 - 19:41:39 -0500)

Please try running this command again, from the microSD that works.

cd /opt/u-boot/bb-u-boot-am335x-evm/
sudo ./install.sh
sudo reboot

It’ll attempt to upgrade the version of u-boot on the eMMC, (not flashing)…

Regards,

I’m able to cd into that directory, however when issuing the install command, the beagelbone hangs and I get a windows notification that the beagelbone has been disconnected from the pc. I am unable to issue and further commands. I’ve attempted this 3 times and unfortunately ended up with the same result each time.
