BitBake config to a build for Ubuntu

Hi community - newbie question:

I wrote a small helloworld2.bb per the gumstix tutorial and works
great with MACHINE="beagleboard" and DISTRO="angstrom-2008.1" in my
local.conf

However I am missing a key cross-compiler concept on how to target for
my Intel, Ubuntu 8.04 development platform.

To create a development machine build, do I set MACHINE="X86"? What
would the DISTRO be?
(I do not see an Ubuntu type conf in the ../openembedded/conf/distro
directory)

Thank you,
Bill

MACHINE="native"

Koen

Thanks. How about the DISTRO?
