Can one boot a beagleboard xm from a ssd?

I have been playing with a Raspberry Pi and am building a wireless robot controller with a 64gb ssd. I haven’t found out if I can replace the slow SD card to boot and run with a partition of !024mb of swap to speed up operations.

Anyone use BB xm to run 3d printers?
