can we go back to the old style?

Hi,

I found it very difficult to use this forum, I mean to find anything.
I seems to be overfragmented, too many subjects and classifications?
Is there a chance to make it simpler as it was before?

Talk to Jason on that. We have a fourth board headed this way as well. I just use gmail and label things as they come in. I don’t even look at all the different categories. I keep it in one big pile.

In such situations, just like kernel.org handles tonnes of email traffic,
a simple email etiquette in subject can do wonders.

A simple proposal like following that can be used to filter emails on subjects.
It takes time to set in, but once people get a feel for this, mails
start sorting out easy.

Difficult to enforce with newbies. I'm OK with creating a newbies list if
there is demand for it. Personally, I think the traffic level is fine and
reasonably balanced (newbie vs. some depth).

Yeah, the on-line categories were to try to help out folks looking for
archived answers and being able to pin some FAQ in each category. I plan
to send out several FAQ-style e-mails and pin them in the different
categories when the next-gen board launches.

I'm confused how they get in the way since you can simply turn them off
with a single click (or just get the e-mail in your inbox).

I can delete some categories if they don't seem useful. What I was going
to try to go for was a couple of key answers on "how to use PRU" etc. in
each of the categories and pin them to the top.

If you feel pretty vested in this, how about give us a proposed set of
subjects/classifications? These were based on my observations of the list
activity, but I'm not stuck on them.

Also, have you tried clicking on the "view all something-or-other" button?
Google keeps making things difficult by changing the interface, but I
recall the last I looked at it that it was pretty easy to find.
