Hi,

Hi all,
I am Devanand trying to install Angstrom on BB using steps
in http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardBeginners .But I was unsuccessful.

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-beagleboard-xm/#angstrom

Check above link, if it works.

Devanand,

http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/demo/beagleboard/.
take the following files from the above link:
MLO
u-boot.bin
uImage
and place them to the "boot" partition

untar Angstrom-Beagleboard-demo-image-glibc-ipk-2011.1-beagleboard.rootfs.tar.bz2
to rootfs partition. It is easy, just try

here is the boot log

http://dexterdev.blogspot.com/2011/09/boot-log.html

1)
http://dexterdev.blogspot.com/2011/09/boot-log.html - nothing is here

2) you have a lot of MMC I/O errors and this does not confuse you??

I have these error messages after loading the first few boot
lines(xloader uboot etc)

mmc - MMC sub system

Usage:
mmc read addr blk# cnt
mmc write addr blk# cnt
mmc rescan
mmc part - lists available partition on current mmc device
mmc dev [dev] [part] - show or set current mmc device [partition]
mmc list - lists available devices
MMC: block number 0x1 exceeds max(0x0)
** Can't read from device 0 **

** Unable to use mmc 0:1 for fatload **
Wrong Image Format for bootm command
ERROR: can't get kernel image!
OMAP3 beagleboard.org #

defeat MMC errors first and then speak about Angstrom problems!

how to do that

To the Beagleboard Beginner

These short notes aim to help beginners get a working Angstrom system
running on the beagleboard.
How to Unpack and Boot the Demo Image

   1. Format the SD card using mkcard.txt. For example: sh mkcard.txt
/dev/sdX, where X is the drive letter of the SD card. On systems like
Ubuntu that would look like 'sudo sh mkcard.txt /dev/sdX'.
   2. Copy MLO and u-boot.bin from
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/demo/beagleboard/ to the first
partition
   3. Unpack the tarball to the root partition of your Beagleboard SD card.
NOTE: superuser privileges are required when unpacking the image
so that device nodes can be created on the SD card filesystem.
      eg. for Linux:

        $ sudo tar -xjv -C /media/rootfs -f
/path/to/Angstrom-Beagleboard-demo-image*rootfs.tar.bz2

This assumes that the SD card has the root filesystem (ext3)
partition mounted as /media/rootfs.
NOTE: unpacking can take several minutes due to the amount of data.
   4. Ensure all SD card filesystem operations have completed (ie.
filesystem cache has flushed to SD card) and eject the SD card from
your development machine. Most operating systems have a "Safely
Remove" action to perform this from the Desktop.
   5. Insert SD card into Beagleboard and power it up.

I did that all. Please help.

I always prepare cards by these instructions and everything is OK.
