Change Network Vendor Name

Hello All,

When i scan my network the BBB vendor name is Texas Instruments. Exemple in fing :

Is it possible to change this text (Texas Instruments) by my text ?

Thanks,
Best regards.

Julien.

Yeap, pay lots of $ to IEEE and get your own personal mac address block..

54:4A:16 Block is owned by Texas Instruments.

Or if your you company already had their own mac block, you can override
these in the device tree...

Regards,

btw here's the full database

http://standards-oui.ieee.org/oui.txt

i don't see arsoft..

Regards,

Only $2575

http://standards.ieee.org/develop/regauth/oui/

Regards,

Ok, I knew not this standard. I was thinking is just a string in a file…
We don’t have a personal mac address block and the price requires reflection…

If we buy a personal mac address block, which file should i change the block?

Thanks for your very fast reponse !

Julien.

https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/arch/arm/boot/dts/am33xx.dtsi#n760

cpsw_emac0: slave@4a100200 {
                /* Filled in by U-Boot */
                mac-address = [ 00 00 00 00 00 00 ];
};

cpsw_emac1: slave@4a100300 {
                /* Filled in by U-Boot */
                mac-address = [ 00 00 00 00 00 00 ];
};

The can be filled in via u-boot, but we actually get them form the kernel:

Due to:

https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/drivers/net/ethernet/ti/davinci_emac.c#n1841

& then:

https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/drivers/net/ethernet/ti/cpsw-common.c#n52

So if you set them in u-boot, that'll overide the kernel lookup..

Regards,

OK perfect !

Thanks for help.

Best Regards,
Julien.
