Changing USB current limit in BB Black

I have a similar problem when I am trying to access an external USB HDD. Will the patch mentioned in this thread apply to both souring and sinking current limit? I am using external power on the Beagle to be able to source more current to the HDD.

Thanks

Short answer: no

longer answer, when you look at the schematics, you will notice that the USB host is powered from the am335 chip, not the TPS power manager. Setting the cut-off in the TPS will no affect the USB Host.

sorry, use a powered USB-HUB. preferably a cheap one that doesn’t cut off at 500mA (like it should).

USB host supply current cannot be set by SW.

It is controlled by the limiting current of the switch which should not exceed 500Ma as dictated by the USB specification.
