connecting BBB as tethered to PC

I bought BBB a week ago, I connected the two cable USB A/C and the HDMI and configuring it as tethered to PC. Sometimes the login prompt comes up, sometimes not.
Where should the USB drive folder come up?
How to connect keyboard and mouse to the BBB?
Waiting for response(s).
Thanks.

I use a wireless keyboard and mouse combo. If you have a USB hub plug that in and it will work fine.

Are you on windows or linux?

Hi,
Many thanks for your suggestions.

I use a wireless keyboard and mouse combo.
I have the same.

If you have a USB hub
I have USB hub powered from power outlet.

plug that in and it will work fine.
What ‘that’ refers to:
The USB coming from BBB?
The wireless keyboard and mouse do not have USB cable.
I connected Bluetooth dongle to BBB.
This time the login prompt did not appear. <<<

Are you on windows or linux?

My desktop is on Windows, but BBB is Linux/Debian.

Are you able to connect BBB directly to a monitor and plug in your kybd/mouse dongle and get that to work?

the login prompt is not appearing on the monitor any more.
I connected the BBB USB to PC and then the USB hub,
but login prompt did not appear in any case.

Are you able to connect BBB directly to a monitor
the monitor does not have USB port, so I can not connect BBB to the monitor directly.

At this point, without even a log in prompt it would be best to reinstall and start over.

Use this image:
https://files.beagle.cc/file/beagleboard-public-2021/images/am335x-eMMC-flasher-debian-12.2-iot-armhf-2023-10-07-4gb.img.xz

It will install itself in emmc, it takes a while for the process. Wait until it powers itself down then power cycle with monitor/kybd/mouse attached and your ethernet connected to your network.

Write down the IP address it shows for cockpit access.

With internet access via ethernet

$sudo apt install && sudo apt upgrade -y

That will take a while to upgrade.

Now open your web browser and enter the IP address you were given when it started up.
Should have a log in screen.
