Convert beagle bone OTG port to Host

Hi

I am working to convert the beagel bone otg port to work as host by shorting the pins 4 and 5.

i am testing this by connecting a usb data card to it, however the is not getting enumerated, the card does not get listed under lsusb.
The board is running ubuntu 11.10 and the kernel version is 3.2.0-psp6.

do i need to make modifications in the kernel source to make this work?

You cannot do it. It won’t work. Please feel free to look at the schematic. There is no OTG functional possible.

Yes. Connect it to the host port. It can deliver 500mA based on the main supply coming into the board has sufficient current… If it is more than that, you will need a HUB with external power.
