DVI to VGA

Hi,

Has anyone out there tried to convert the DVI output on the
Beagleboard to VGA? I've done this before on another project and it
worked very well, but I doesn't seems to be the case on the
Beagleboard.

Any suggestions or ideas why it is not working?

Here's my setup:

Beagleboard -> HDMI-to-DVI cable -> DVI gender changer -> DIV-toVGA
adapter -> VGA screen

Thanks,

Willem

Keep in mind that the Beagle outputs DVI-D and not DVI. There is no VGA component in the signal. So, you will need to convert from DVI-D to VGA. I have no looked to find one of these, but I am sure they are out there, although I would think they would be a little expensive.

Same price as a pretty decent dvi-d lcd at newegg.. :slight_smile:

That will explain it. I have a DVI-A to VGA adapter!

If anyone else out there is interested in converting DVI signales,
here's a site that would help you decide what adapter you need:

As pointed out, DVI-D is digital, whereas VGA is analogue. So a simple
cable adaptor won't do. I have successfully tested HDfury: http://www.hdfury.com
, which is not cheap, though.

This is the cheapest DVI-D to VGA adapter I have seen.. but it's still
expensive.

I try to get VGA output using a HDfury gamer edition without any luck. I tested it with a DVI-D output from a notebook and the cable works OK, but Beagleboard → HDfury gamer edition → Standar monitor doesn’t work. It only work about 15 seconds and then the signal goes out.
Any suggestions? I try this setup about two or three months ago… maybe a Kernel issue?

@Florian:
What HDfury do you use? What Kernel do you use?
