Electrical isolation of BBB's ethernet port

Hello to all,

Is BeagleBone Black’s ethernet port electrically isolated? Where can I find more information on it ? I want to know if it is, and I cannot find any information on beagleboard.org.

Thank you in advance for your time.

MM

Yes. The connector has a transformer inside it. All documentation for the board can be found at http://www.elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack. The schematic and System Reference Manual are your best sources. http://www.elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack#LATEST_PRODUCTION_FILES_.28A6.29

Thank you for your help. The isolation is for 1500 VDC (ethernet standard)?
I looked into the System Reference Manual and the wiki before asking here, but they seem to have no reference to electrical isolation. I will look into them again.
Michael.

Have you ever seen an ethernet port that was functional and did not have a transformer ?

Yes, it is possible to couple the ports using isolation capacitors instead of transformers. This is not unusual in blade/backplane systems.
