executing bitbake console-image command throws an error

Hi,
I followed the instructions given in http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/building-angstrom
While I am trying to execute " bitbake console-image " getting the
below ERROR.

NOTE: 1: /home/beagle/oe/openembedded/recipes/gettext/gettext-
native_0.17.bb, do_populate_staging (1633)
NOTE: Tasks Summary: Attempted 324 tasks of which 323 didn't need to
be rerun and 1 failed.
ERROR: '/home/beagle/oe/openembedded/recipes/qemu/qemu-
native_0.10.3.bb' failed

Please provide your suggestions for solving the issue.

TIA

i'm using the dev branch of OE for angstrom, and building a
console-image worked just fine for me earlier today.

Hi Robert P. J. Day,
I tried it two times from morning but no luck.
Can you suggest what is the problem?

TIA

first, please don't top post.

  which branch of OE are you using for your build? as you can see,
i'm using the "dev" branch:

$ git branch
* org.openembedded.dev
  stable/2009
$

and it is currently up to date with respect to "git pull". what is
the state of *your* working copy?

rday

Hi rday,
Mine is also same

  org.openembedded.dev
* stable/2009

Am I missed anything ? Pls suggest

no, it isn't. i'm using the dev branch, while you're using the
stable branch, so i really can't comment. i prefer to use the
development branch since i'd rather keep up with the latest fixes and
enhancements. it appears that there is an issue with the stable
branch, but someone else is going to have to address that.

Is your local git tree up-to-date?

Hi Ihar,
May I know how to check whether my local git tree is up-to-date?

git pull

coincidentally, just now, on the OE-devel mailing list, we read:

http://lists.linuxtogo.org/pipermail/openembedded-devel/2009-August/012827.html

it may be that there's something a bit weird with the build of
qemu-native. this sounds more like an OE issue at this point.

rday

It is saying up-to-date !!

Hi rday,
Thank you for your valuable info, I will try tomorrow again.

If your whole host system really hangs just because of you are running bitbake then there's something seriously wrong (e.g. broken hardware) with your system. That is not a bitbake/OE related issue.

(You are not running bitbake as root, are you?)

Also please note that bitbaking for example x11-image might take up to 8-12 hours.
