How were you planning to funnel 1000Mbit/s ethernet through a ~450Mbit/
s usb?

regards,

Koen

Hello,

I do not need the 1000Mbit/s but more than 100. The 480MBits/s for USB 2.0 are enough.

Your usb does 450Mbps? I've never seen usb get anywhere close to that.

USB struggles to keep up with 100Mbps ethernet, so I doubt you'd gain
anything from trying to shove 1000Mbps through it. Quite possibly it
would even get worse.

Hi Måns,

okay, I never tested ethernet over USB. It was just a thought.

It has been my experience that you don’t have enough CPU.

In the PowerPC world it takes more that a Megahertz of CPU clock rate to do a Megabit - even with Jumbo (9000 byte) packets:

10 MHz for 10baseT
100 MHz for 100baseT
1 GHz for 1000baseT

The USB Ethernet gadget seemed to do quite well actually.
