GSoC '14 Android-based remote display: New applicant

Hello,

I’m Praveen Kumar, a Senior Undergraduate from Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay, India. I’m a Hardware, Android developer (also comfortable with C, C++) and am really interested in making contributions to BeagleBoard and particular fascinated about Android-based remote display

A brief introduction about myself, I’m an Android developer and I was doing it for about 2 years now. Some of my apps are:

MDroid - An Android application for Moodle (Virtual learning platform) - 48,000+ downloads

Vehicle Tracker - A vehicle tracing application. I’m also involved in the hardware side of this project using Xbees and Microcontrollers.

I’m also an avid Hardware developer and worked on various Microcontrollers, FPGAs and Raspberry Pi. A few of my hardware projects,

Accelerometer based game onFPGA

Souce: https://github.com/praveendath92/Greed4Speed

Microcontrollers - A collection of codes to interface various slaves with an 8051 micro controller

51st Design Automation Conference Publication: (nominated for Best Paper)
Code and details: https://github.com/praveendath92/dual_core_PUF_with_PDL_and_ethernet

I would be enthusiastic about working on a preliminary module before the official period and I was wondering if you could give some pointers to get started.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Can you share some of your thoughts on how you’d break down the project and why you find the project idea useful?

As I mention to everyone, hanging out on #beagle and #beagle-gsoc to try to meet potential mentors is a good idea. You can even help us recruit mentors with a proven record of open source mentorship.

What type of preliminary module did you have in mind? What sort of basic functionality do you think you could implement?
