GSoC 2015: Automated Testing for BeagleBone and BeagleBone Black

Hi,

I am Shashank Gangrade a third year undergraduate student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. I have been working with BeagleBone Black for the past one year as part of my university’s Formula Student team. We are building a custom Data Acquisition System for our car, and we use the BeagleBone Black to collect data over various protocols ie. UART(3), I2C(1), and ADC(5), by implementing parallel threading using python based libraries.

I have working experience with developement Boards like BeagleBone Black and Arduino and their peripherals. Apart from this I am well versed with the following programming languages Python, C and C++.
I am particularly interested in the Automated testing for BeagleBone and BeagleBone Black which falls under Improving initial experience for novice developers. I am currently looking into this and I feel that there is room for a lot of improvement. I would like to know if I can contribute something in the project.

Please guide me on how to proceed for GSoc.

Thank you.
Shashank Gangrade

Have you engaged with any mentors for this on #beagle-gsoc ?
That’s the best place to get to know more about a project.

I talked to one of the mentor on IRC. This is an old project and some work has been done, but I am unable to find the further work done by other people. I am looking into it currently.

Unfortunately, example code is scattered all over so there isn't a single
"project" type work that has happened.
