How to apply patch in Beagleboard -XM

I2c_2 is not there in sys/device/platform/omap

I am trying to apply this patch in terminal in txt format by command
"patch -p1 < path " but terminal does not execute anything.

That's a patch for the kernel source..

Grab the source your kernel, patch, rebuild, install..
