how to change dvi resolution and use a camera

Hi,

I have installed, on a beagleboard rev c2, the new image of the kernel 2.6.32 at http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/demo/beagleboard/ and I have a monitor resolution of 640x480.
I tried to change the resolution by setting the environment variable dvimode (setenv dvimode ‘1024x768MR-24@60’) and also by adding to the bootargs variable the string: ‘omapfb.video_mode=1024x768MR-24@60’, but nothing has happened.
Have I to install an additional package to be able to change the monitor resolution? Which one?
I have also tried to change the resolution by the GUI in System->Preferences->Monitors, but I can see only the 640X480 option …

I’m also trying to use a camera, but I met some difficulties. Now I’m installing a kernel module from UVC
http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/ . Have you some advice?

Thanks in advance.

Luciana

only you need reset the beagleborad, enter to omap prompt and writ this comand´s

OMAP3 beagleboard.org # setenv bootargs ‘console=ttyS2,115200n8 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootwait omapfb.video_mode=1024x768MR-24@59’
OMAP3 beagleboard.org. # saveenv

Doing saveenv is probably the works thing you can do on a beagle. Leave the default env intact and use a boot.scr

Hi,

thanks for your reply. I tried by:

OMAP3 beagleboard.org # setenv bootargs ‘console=ttyS2,115200n8 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootwait omapfb.video_mode=1024x768MR-24@59’
OMAP3 beagleboard.org. # saveenv
OMAP3 beagleboard.org # reset

but the resolution is 640x480… Is that due to the demo image ?

Greetings
Luciana

Can you elaborate? I do this all the time, and I’d like to know more about why its a problem. Especially since all we’re doing is essentially eriing to nand, nothing weird. Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Yes I can
