How To Keep Time and Date In BeagleBoard xM

What's the easiest way to keep the time and date accurate in BeagleBoard xM? My lovely install of Maverick 10.10 (Ubuntu) claims it is Saturday 12/04.

Can I simply install ntp and get away with that, or...?

... or you can add backup battery to your BB-xM (I bought Seiko
MS621FE on ebay).

Thank you, I have done this. I guess the battery will arrive in 2 weeks or so, then I can have the thrill of removing resistor R65 and soldering the battery in.
