Required Skills;

3 or more years of recent US railroad industry experience as a Mainframe Developer is required (Union Pacific, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF), Norfolk Southern, CSX, Kansas City Southern)

5-7 years’ experience as a software developer with COBOL, CICS, JCL, SQL, Microfocus COBOL and DB2 is required.

they are looking for a 80 year old programmer. Who uses COBOL anymore ?

I know someone who works as a Cobol programmer. I think he’s 52. Never did ask him how he chose such a hellish occupation. Technically I’m a Cobol programmer, but it has been 30 years since I have written anything in it.

I’m sure there are a lot of them in banking and medicine.
