instructions for building angstrom for BB

it's been a few weeks since i've messed with my BB so, getting back
to it, i'm following my own instructions that i wiki'ed here:

http://www.crashcourse.ca/wiki/index.php/Angstrom

i'm about to update all my downloads and see if those build
instructions still work. anyone else is welcome to try them as well
and see what breaks.

Please don't duplicate information, there are already way to many out-of-date copies out there :frowning:

regards,

Koen

i'm aware of that, but there was no single source i found that was
complete and correct. and you're right -- there *are* way too many
HOWTOs out there, and if you take them all, and combine them, *then*
you will probably get a working set of instructions. but as of the
time i wrote that writeup, there was nothing out there that *just*
*worked*. what i wanted -- for my own benefit -- was a set of
instructions that worked. every time.

p.s. as i type this, my "bitbake base-image" is cranking along, but
here's an early snippet of the output:

NOTE: Parsing finished. 0 cached, 6374 parsed, 283 skipped, 0 masked.
NOTE: Resolving any missing task queue dependencies
NOTE: preferred version git of u-boot not available (for item u-boot)
NOTE: preferred version git of u-boot not available (for item u-boot)
NOTE: Preparing runqueue
NOTE: Executing runqueue

so where do i report that u-boot diagnostic? the OE mailing list?
the angstrom list? the beagleboard list? that's why this is
sometimes confusing.

Can you state clearly WHICH instructions are the recognized official
up-to-date version that everyone should be using? -Dan

I believe Koen's referring to:

indeed

and, in fact, i link to that page from my wiki. all i do is add
some preliminary info that needs to be done under fedora for those
instructions to work.

and i'm still not sure where i would report this diagnostic from my
current build of base-image:

NOTE: preferred version git of u-boot not available (for item u-boot)
NOTE: preferred version git of u-boot not available (for item u-boot)

if i'm reading things correctly, the beagleboard wants u-boot-1.1.4,
which *seems* available. so what am i doing wrong?
