Newbie question about boot process of Angstrom-Beagleboard-demo-image..

Hi All,

I have loaded Angstrom-Beagleboard-demo-image... on my unit and it
pretty much all works except for a network issue (a subject for a
different posting).

My next step is to start learning about the process of building a
custom version of Angstrom/OpenEmbedded, but before I get going on
that I am interested in learning more about the boot process of the
Angstrom-Beagleboard-demo-image...

Three files are loaded on the FAT32 partition - MLO, u-boot.bin and
uImage, and the un-tarred contents of Angstrom-Beagleboard-demo-
image....rootfs.tar.bz2 on the ext3 partition.

Is there a description available for each of these files, and how each
is built and how they interact ?

I assume that if I am going to build a custom Angstrom/OpenEmbedded
system that an understanding of the boot process could be quite
useful

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,

You can read the following thread

and for sources, you can visit

For building your own angstrom, visit http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/building-ångström

I, being a newbie built my own angstrom images. It is fun.
