No audio out in Ubuntu 10.10 (BB C3)

Ive got BB C3. I have succesfully ported Ubuntu 10.10 as per the gidelines from http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardUbuntu and also installed xfce desktop manager with gdm.

Everything runs fine except the audio. Actually the volume adjust bar is also being shown but no sound output.

Please help me out.

when I compile it. The result does not run properly(surprise) on my BBXM. Can anyone point out what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

try using at least 2.6.37-x0:
http://rcn-ee.net/deb/maverick/v2.6.37-x0/linux-image-2.6.37-x0_1.0maverick_armel.deb

Actually for fixed audio on the xM use 2.6.37-x2 as 'x0' can fail on
some mmc cards.. (error -110).. It has Steve's mmc fix..

script:
http://rcn-ee.net/deb/maverick/v2.6.37-x2/install-me.sh

deb:
http://rcn-ee.net/deb/maverick/v2.6.37-x2/linux-image-2.6.37-x2_1.0maverick_armel.deb

and remember to change ttyS2 to ttyO2 in your bootarg's..

or just wait till this weekend, i'm currently testing new images for
lucid/maverick/natty with this new kernel..

Ive got BB C3. I have succesfully ported Ubuntu 10.10 as per the gidelines
fromhttp://elinux.org/BeagleBoardUbuntuand also installed xfce desktop
manager with gdm.

Everything runs fine except the audio. Actually the volume adjust bar is
also being shown but no sound output.

Regards,

Just noticed this is the C3, audio should work out of the box, try
muting/unmuting the audio in the volume bar..

It should work, something's oddly configured..

Regards,

On C3, boot hangs here.

check for /etc/init/ttyO2.conf file.

There is a tty2.conf which I copied to tty02.conf and changed to read

Which is really odd, since i was testing that exact kernel yesterday
in maverick on my xM.. 2.6.38-rc3-d1 had broken sgx drivers, so my fix
was 2.6.38-rc3-d2...

Sid, did you build it yourself? Which userspace are you using?

I'll build up the same image again this morning, with a c4 board..

Regards,

Hi Sid,

Here's what i'm getting: (boots fine)

http://pastebin.com/2ywLvscU

with:

setenv dvimode 1280x720MR-16@60
setenv vram 12MB
setenv bootcmd 'mmc init; fatload mmc 0:1 0x80300000 uImage; bootm 0x80300000'
setenv bootargs console=ttyO2,115200n8 console=tty0
root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootwait ro vram=${vram}
omapfb.mode=dvi:${dvimode} fixrtc buddy=${buddy} mpurate=${mpurate}

Regards,

It's the one from rcn-ee.net/deb/natty/v2.6.38-rc3-d1, I used install-me.sh.
Regards
Sid.

Why do do you want to compile it? Both angstrom and ubuntu provide it.

Same problem with v2.6.38-rc3-d2.
Regards
Sid.

natty userspace with natty v2.6.38-rc3-d2 on my c4..

http://pastebin.com/AuT7Uz9J

i just can't replicate why your's doesn't boot..

setenv dvimode 1280x720MR-16@60
setenv vram 12MB
setenv bootcmd 'mmc init; fatload mmc 0:1 0x80300000 uImage; bootm 0x80300000'
setenv bootargs console=ttyO2,115200n8 console=tty0
root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootwait ro vram=${vram}
omapfb.mode=dvi:${dvimode} fixrtc buddy=${buddy} mpurate=${mpurate}

Regards,

Progress.
I checked the SDHC but didn't find -d2 in /boot, so I set up bootargs to be the same as in your email ran install-me.sh again and rebooted.

I have everything working in Gnome, but the serial console doesn't come up to the login prompt, may be because of the double define in bootargs of console=tty02 and console=tty0.

Sweet it works...

to get serial console back:

you need a "/etc/init/ttyO2.conf" in ubuntu

I put the important bits here:
http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardUbuntu#Omap_Serial_Changes

Regards,

It's there

Yeah, I figured that out about 10 minutes after posting…

opkg install wireless-tools

I was wondering if it is possible to use a d-link DWA-125 usb wifi adaptor with angstrom?
I managed to get my airlink AWLL3026 to work by “opkg install zd1211-firmware”(works 100%). I tried finding a driver with the search term “firmware” but could not find anything suitable. Suggestions? The underlying issue is I can’t find AWLL3026’s in local stores any more and need to diversify. I’ve got a couple of the D-links and was hoping to get them working.
