Noise while playing the .mp3 file.

Hi all,
I am using the Beagleboard-xm Rev B and Android gingerbread is ported on to it.
while using the command " alsa_aplay xxxx.mp3" it is not playing the song and producing noise.
what might be the problem?

Log of the command:

“# alsa_aplay abc4.mp3
Playing raw data ‘abc4.mp3’ : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono”

did you read the error message? "Playing raw data"
aplay is not an mp3 decoder...

hi use alsamixer command for settings.
