NthCode Player Alpha 2 is out

Hello fellow BeagleBoarders,

NthCode Player Alpha 2 for BeagleBoard is now available for download at nthcode.com/player/download.html

What’s NthCode Player? Well, today, if you want to listen to music or watch a movie, you need to go to your computer, and then, possibly, the Internet. What if you want to listen to music or watch movies on your TV, set-top box, or other electronic device? NthCode Player is software that makes that happen. You can read the details at http://www.nthcode.com.

New features in Alpha 2:

  • Added support for USB mass storage devices (USB flash cards, USB disk drives, etc.)
  • Added support for Realtimedsp’s OMAP3530-MINI-V3 BeagleBoard-like devkit (realtimedsp.com.cn)
  • Add List View/Grid View selector to Audio and Video menus
  • Added simplified Chinese tranlslations for mainland China (we are in Beijing)
  • Fixed bug that caused the software license to show as raw HTML instead of processed HTML

Limitations:

  • Still using software-only decoders while we find time to make the DSP work well
  • Video is limited to about 500x350 pixels with mp3 audio @ 30fps
  • AAC+ is currently not supported due to lack of a non-GPL decoder

You can download this alpha from http://nthcode.com/player/download.html

If you find any issues, we have a mailing list at http://groups.google.com/group/nthcode-player-discussion

Thanks, and enjoy!
