OE on vmware ubuntu8041desktop

Hello I made it about half way through the tutorial on setting up open
embedded

http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardAndOpenEmbeddedGit

...the line git pull. At this point when I typed git pull [enter] the
cursor goes to the next line and the computer gave me a need to setup
up cache error. After a while of looking around I decided to start
over. Now when I try to do the first git in the tutorial the cursor
just drops to the next line when I hit enter and nothing happens.
Anyone know why this might be? My browsers still work but I'm not sure
what happened to git. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I was trying to connect to openembedded git server since Saturday and
it seems the server is down. I tried a mirror and it worked fine:
git://repo.or.cz/openembedded.git

Yup:

I’m a git newbie (I use primarily use svn), so I apologize if this is a basic question. Is there a simple way to switch an existing clone of a git repository to point to a new repository, as is needed here? Looking at various git documentation, I can’t see an equivalent to the svn “switch” command.

OE is reportedly back on line, but for future reference: edit .git/config in the repository directory.

Great, thanks. It looks unavoidable that I will eventually learn more than I care to about git, but this will help keep me going until I am ready to take the plunge.

Hi, all:
I have done xload, uboot and linux linux-omap-2.6.
But I found make menuconfig in linux-omap-2.6 doesn’t work, anybody knows
how to use make menuconfig to configure the kernel? Right I can use make xconfig
to configure the kernel.
For xload and uboot, any make menuconfig command?
I have run angstrom in my BB in NAND flash with networking up but I would like
to develop the system under NFS environment. Anybody know how? Example?
Another question, I would like to run qt-embedded in my BB, any example?
Thank you very much

Hi Frank,

Hi, Robert:
After the library installed, it is ok for meueconfig.
But for xload and uboot, there is no menuconfig. Any ideas?
Frank

Hi Frank,

It's been awhile since I actually rebuilt uboot.. (never messed with
xload) According to my old notes, to get menuconfig to work with
uboot was just after the *_config:

make CROSS_COMPILE=$ARM distclean
make CROSS_COMPILE=$ARM omap3530beagle_config
make CROSS_COMPILE=$ARM menuconfig

Lately when i bring up a board, i just re-flash one of Koen's images
from here: http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/demo/beagleboard/

could you post the last few (25ish) lines of the error?

Regards,

Hi, Robert:
I don’t have problem to make uboot.
Just want to know if any choice or any tools to configure the uboot just like the kernel
configuration with make menuconfig or make xconfig.
Best regards
frank
